Curriculum

The Curriculum at Two Gates

A broad, balanced and relevant curriculum is offered at Two Gates. Teachers plan collaboratively to ensure National Curriculum coverage, statutory requirements and progression throughout school. The Early Years Team plan from the Foundation Stage Curriculum. We have agreed policies on teaching and learning and practice is regularly monitored in a variety of ways to ensure a consistent approach throughout school.

In all curriculum areas we use ICT to support and extend learning.

Our curriculum is always under review as we aim to provide the very best learning experiences for our children. We seek to challenge and inspire children to want to learn and achieve of their best. The principles of inclusion and equality of opportunity are at the heart of all we do in school.

Each half term we provide parents with Curriculum Information Booklets so that you are aware of what your children will be learning.

Foundation Stage

Curriculum – Nursery and Reception

In Nursery and Reception children progress through the Stepping Stones and Early Learning Goals within the Foundation Stage Curriculum. Topics are carefully planned to give the children a strong foundation to their education by providing activities which help them develop in the six areas of learning:

communication, language and literacy
mathematical development
knowledge and understanding of the world
physical development
creative development
personal social and emotional development.

We use a variety of teaching methods and approaches to suit all children’s learning styles.

We also make use of the environment through our outdoor classroom.
